Staycation: Grand Hyatt

If you follow P&P on Facebook, you may, I repeat MAY, have noticed that it has been my anniversary this past month.  In a bid to make it special we booked ourselves into the Grand Hyatt Doha for a 'staycation' for the weekend.
We arrived a few hours before official check in and so we ventured down to the pool area. The weather was puuurfect for sunbathing, the pool area very intimate with a lovely atmosphere. After a few hours of unsuccessful tanning time, Ali headed to the gym and I having "forgotten" my gym attire, as you can imagine rather reluctantly booked myself in for an hours massage!!

Maria worked her magic, I left feeling totally rejuvenated, sipped on some tea and then plonked myself in the jacuzzi waiting for Ali to finish. He came out rather impressed with the facilities, so if gyming is your thing, definitely check out their prices etc. We talked about joining, with all the benefits you get, it would definitely be worth it!

Upon check-in we were informed we had been upgraded to a Grand Suite, which was fabulous. Little old me in a suite ay... can you imagine?!  It was beautiful, a wrap around balcony, office area, separate dining and living room and the hugest bath tub I've ever seen! We were a pair of very happy bunnies!
ok ok its not the biggest I ever did see, but it is rather nice!

lovely little surprise gift
We made it just in time for snacks and drinks in the Grand Club and then headed on down to Isaan for dinner. Unable to decide what to eat we asked if the chef could prepare us a selection of dishes, and wow was that a good choice! We were prepared a collection of starters, a number of main dishes and unlimited jasmine tea.  The dinner was sensational so I will do a review of it's own soon!
Upon finishing our meal, we took a couple of drinks onto the balcony and overheard a swing night that was happening downstairs. Live music, big band style.  It sounded fantastic, so off we ventured again. There were three artists playing but as we arrived late we got to hear Matthew Vankan & Nicola Emmanuelle who both put on a grand performance.  It was so lovely to find such an intimate event, which such great music. Things just are not advertised especially well are they in Qatar? Although swing week had been fully booked all week apparently.

At the end of the set we were invited for drinks with the performers and the GM in Dunes. We were treated so well the whole day, all the staff were so friendly and it felt like they genuinely cared whether we were having a nice time, our needs were catered to so well and we were wished a happy anniversary everywhere we went. It was just such a magical way to spend the weekend. I couldn't have wished for a better stay.

Happy Anniversary <3
